Will the parade be on TV?

  • Yes, the parade will be broadcast regionally on WBTV, Channel 3 (CBS) on Thanksgiving Day, at 4:00 p.m. You can watch it live through our mobile app. https://guidebook.com/app/CLTParade/
  • The Parade will also be available streaming on WBTV online at 9:00 a.m.

Can I buy a ticket for reserved seating?

How many years has there been a Thanksgiving Day parade in Charlotte?

  • The parade was founded in 1947. The 2018 parade will be the 71st year.

Where can I park?

Is there designated handicapped seating?

  • There is no designated handicapped seating along the parade route. We recommend arriving around 7 a.m. to secure a prime spot up front on the sidewalk or along a street opening.

I'd like to participate in the Parade, can I still register?

  • Unfortunately, the lineup is set for the 2018 Parade. If you are interested in participating the 2019 Thanksgiving Day Parade, visit the site in early Spring 2019 to apply.

What is the parade route?

  • The parade will march South on Tryon Street from 9th St. to Stonewall St.

What time does the event start?

  • The parade begins at 9:00 a.m. on November 22nd, 2018.

I would like more information about the marching band scholarship program.

Charlotte Center City Partners is excited to announce the revival of the Marching Band Scholarship Program. Marching bands have been an integral part of the Thanksgiving Day Parade since it first began in 1947 and after a brief hiatus, the scholarship program has returned to encourage students to continue their musical practices beyond high school.

The program includes three (3) grant scholarships and the Queen Charlotte Music Scholarship.

Conditions of eligibility:


  • The applicant must be a senior in a high school marching band that is participating in the current year’s Novant Health Thanksgiving Day Parade
  • The applicant must demonstrate superior scholastic attainment with a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • The applicant must demonstrate moral force of character, leadership ability, and an interest in his/her fellow students and the community
  • The applicant must submit a letter of recommendation from their band director and one other school official or community leader
  • Students applying for the Queen Charlotte Music Scholarship must meet all the above requirements and show proof that they plan to continue music in college through marching band or ensemble concert classes.
